Got a wonderful review by Liam for my book A Magpie Collection. This is what he says : -
"I completely enjoyed this book. The bird classification and 'how birds are named' explanantions made it easier to understand. Knowing what group they belong to helps you work out how to attract them to your backyard. It is a great book for anyone who likes birds. This book is a must have for bird identification. I loved everything about this book."
Thank you Liam - you made my day.

A Magpie Collection
I'm excited to have launched my new book on 17 September 2016 at the Okura Village Hall. We helped raise over $500 for Friends of Okura Bush and had a fun time. Schools submitted student bird-themed art and there was also a bird mask competition on the day. Twelve children won books for themselves and their school libraries. The launch event was supported by Canoe and Kayak, who donated a kayak trip and Kokako Fairtrade, who donated packs of drinking chocolate.
A Magpie Collection: Neighbours with Feathers is a non-fiction, interactive, children's book about birds.
Written for 8 to 12 year olds it introduces the reader to the birds found in their backyard or local neighbourhood and encourages him/her to become a bird detective and discover the secret lives of birds. Each bird has a QR-code so you can listen to the bird song on a mobile phone or tablet. Filled with beautiful photos, quirky illustrations and assorted facts it also has a website with more information for the inquisitive child, their parents and teachers.
The print version is available online from a variety of volunteer, conservation-focused organisations like Friends of Okura Bush and your purchase from them will raise much needed funds. It can also be found in some independently owned book stores and on trademe. Ask your local bookseller or library to get you a copy.
A version is available on Amazon but the paper quality is not as good and I suggest you source a copy in NZ. A kindle version is also available. Both of these versions are titled Neighbours with Feathers : A magpie collection of facts.
